More than 6,000 members of the Uruguayan community and guests came out to celebrate Uruguayan Independence Day and the 20th anniversary of Uruguayos Unidos.
The day became a sensational showcase of Uruguayan culture and traditions, with Fairfield Showgrounds playing host to an array of uniquely Uruguayan treats including: Candombe shows, live bands, South American folklore, traditional food including Asado-BBQ, masitas, chorizo al pan and more. Booths selling traditional South American souvenirs also graced the event.
UBI World TV, the leading provider of the best Spanish TV entertainment which includes top-rating programs from Uruguay, once more showed its support to the Uruguayan community by sponsoring the event for the second year in a row.
UBI set up a booth which treated participants to live signals of its Spanish Service comprising 10 premium TV channels from Spain, Latin and South America.
Uruguayos Unidos, who was behind the event, is a non-profit organisation that links Uruguay and Australia, and assists Uruguayan families facing challenges and crises including natural disasters and calamities.
