UBI World TV is joining hands with local and global organisations during the month of June to help champion the cause of the environment.
In a show of support for the global observance of World Environment Day on 5 June 2009, UBI is helping highlight the dangers of carbon monoxide emissions through a 45-second public service announcement airing on UBI’s in-house produced channels, ANA, Vizyon and BOM. UBI’s Marketing and Creative Services team conceptualised and produced the video promo which aims to encourage UBI viewers to do their bit to help reduce carbon monoxide emissions and save the environment. World Environment Day is an annual initiative of the United Nations to create awareness of environment issues and stimulate community action. This year’s theme is “Your planet needs you – UNite to combat climate change”.
Moreover, UBI is encouraging everyone to participate in ‘The Five Lands Walk’, a project of the Gosford City Council which is being spearheaded this year by the Central Coast Ugnay-Kabayan (CCUK), a Filipino community organisation in the Central Coast. ‘The Five Lands Walk’ is a cultural, physical and spiritual journey comprising a 9 km walk through MacMasters Beach, Copacabana, Avoca Beach, North Avoca and Terrigal. The Walk will take place on Saturday, 20 June 2009, with a full programme and range of activities commencing at 5am until 5pm. Along the walk, each of the five lands will host cultural activities reflective of their community with the aim of connecting people to people and people to place. The activities will include presentations of food, music, dance, theatre, sports, sculptural installations and land art, paintings and photography, kites and kinetic art as well as education in Aboriginal culture and heritage, the history of European and multicultural settlement in the area, whales and the environment. For enquiries on this event, contact Milan of Central Coast Ugnay-Kabayan (CCUK) on 0413 575 444 or email rose_milan@yahoo.com.
