Sydney’s Catholic Filipino faithful paid their last respects, said their prayers and remembered the life of the much loved former President Cory Aquino at the Memorial Mass held on Sunday, 9 August at the Mary Immaculate Parish Church, Bossley Park NSW.
The Mass, initiated by the Philippine Community Council-NSW and coordinated by the PCC-NSW’s Ronaldo Villaver, was officiated by Fr. Nards Mercene, Filipino Chaplain of the Sydney Archdiocese.
Consul General for NSW, Eva Betita, was among those who attended the Mass. ConGen Betita spoke briefly about former President Aquino and her democratic legacy in Philippine government.
The Filipino Chaplaincy, Archdiocese of Sydney, FilCOS Fairfield, the Philippine Consulate General in Sydney and UBI Pinoy also lent their support.
Fellowship followed the Mass, and all participants shared food and refreshments, making it another event that brought the Filipino community together while remembering a President who has touched the Filipino people’s hearts and lives.
