Rain or shine, nothing stopped Victoria’s Filipino community from coming out and celebrating their much-awaited fiesta, Pinoy-style!
This year’s Melbourne Filipino Fiesta, held for the first time at the premier event venue, Melbourne Showgrounds, turned out to be one fiesta that everyone will remember for many years to come.
Reminiscent of traditional fiestas heldin the Philippines, the event was complete with all the fancy trimmings: family, friends, onlookers, a bevy of beauties, songs, dances, karaoke, Filipino food and drinks, topped off by fabulous Pinoy entertainment, courtesy of sponsors UBI World TV and top-rating Philippine broadcast network GMA.
UBI World TV and GMA treated fiesta revellers to the best LIVE Pinoy entertainment that they can enjoy 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the popular international Filipino channel, GMA Pinoy TV.
GMA stars German Moreno, Jolina Magdangal, Gretchen Espina and John Nite flew in from Manila and rocked Melbourne Showgrounds with their antics, games, songs and skits. They also gamely posed for photographs and signed autographs for their fans at UBI’s booth.
In addition to the hit UBI/ GMA show which capped the Fiesta, the two-day event showcased cultural activities, a feast of local cuisine, novelty games, a trade show from business owners, a Filipiniana Exhibit, a fashion show from all regions, rides and raffles.
Now on its 27th year, the Melbourne Filipino Fiesta is the biggest gathering of Filipinos outside NSW, attracting up to 15,000 attendees each year.
Fiesta participants stormed UBI’s eye-catching booth to take advantage of the best ever Filipino TV offers made available in Australia.
