Unity, charity and harmony regardless of language, religion, race or colour will be the focus of this year’s Abdal Musa Festival 2009 at Wyatt Park, Lidcombe, being held to commemorate the 18th anniversary of the Alevi Cultural Centre (AACC).
AACC is a leading community organisation dedicated to assisting the Turkish Alevi Community and other migrant community members with various means of support to help them settle in Australian society.
By staging Abdal Musa Festival 2009, AACC aims to gather all community members to share one another’s cultural values and talents, helping unite all communities in Auburn, Lidcombe and surrounding suburbs by creating a family friendly atmosphere.
With the theme “Let us all unite as one”, expect a sensational array of Turkish culture, traditions, music, dancing, food as well as performances by other cultural groups including Aboriginal dance group, Chinese dance group, Arabic performers and more.
One of the highlights is a charity ritual whereby a meal of meat and Pilav bulghur is shared to everyone to symbolise the well-off looking after the less fortunate, sharing and asking for good blessings for agricultural abundance and prosperity.
