What better way to celebrate Chilean Independence Day than with a grand event showcasing the best of Chilean music and entertainment.
Fiestas Patrias Chilenas 2009, the official Chilean Independence Day event, was successfully stagedlast Sunday, 20 September 2009 at the Fairfield Showground. Behind the event was Colo Colo Sydney, with the sponsorship of UBI World TV, the leading provider of the best Chilean and Spanish TV and radio entertainment in Australia and New Zealand.
One of the highlights of the event was Chile's most popular singing group, La Sonora de Tommy Rey, who flew in from Chile to perform for their fans in Sydney. The group's sentimental repertoire wowed the crowd and allowed everyone to listen to their favourite Chilean songs once again.
The program also featured fabulous performances by local groups, Cofochilex, Cantares de Chile, Sonido, Banda Escape, Bolivia Unida and Polynesian Dancers.
Fiestas Patrias Chilenas 2009 was an entertainment extravaganza that was enjoyed by all Chileans as well as the greater Spanish-speaking and South American community.
