The Turkish Islamic community, under the auspices of the Feza Foundation with the sponsorship of UBI World TV, came out for a day of festivities, culture, cuisine and performances, celebrating the 14th Annual Qurban Festival with the wider multi-cultural communities of Sydney.
Along with Quran readings and prayers conducted by Ibrahim Karaisli, the event was marked with performances by local Turkish Australian youth and musicians. Australian Federal and Local MPs also graced the event including Hon Laurie Ferguson, Hon Joe Tripodi, Sen Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, Hon Barbara Perry and Hon Chris Hayes.
As in past years, this year’s Qurban Festival was a success, with more than 5,000 participants taking part in the celebrations marking an important day in the Turkish Islamic calendar.
